I am an Underwater Explorer, Writer and Photographer. A member of the Women Divers Hall of Fame (WDHOF) and a Fellow of the Explorers Club, I have been fortunate to explore much of our world . Participating in numerous underwater expeditions for National Geographic Magazine, provided a basis for 50 years of diving around the planet. I’ve worked in the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean, the South Pacific, the Caribbean, the Galapagos, the Sea of Japan, much of Australia, the Arctic, and Antarctica. At home in the jungle and at the opera, my travels have also been a lifelong voyage of self-discovery. This timely perspective changed me from an ocean lover to an ocean advocate as I witnessed vanishing corals, melting icebergs and effects on remote cultures. Healthy oceans are the basis for all life on Earth. The ocean and, therefore, our blue planet are in trouble.

A Tribute to Dr. Eugenie Clark, the Shark Lady.
Genie was my mentor, teacher and life-long friend. She was the scientist author on many of the NatGeo expeditions on which I worked. We were often the only females on these journeys. Lots of giggles and fun threaded through all the adventures. She taught me the importance of science in everyday life and schooled me in marine biology with the world as classroom. How lucky was I!
